History - Timeline

Saryan's Arthur is a second-generation Fashion Designer. From humble beginnings, inspired by fashion as a young man, Arthur developed his own vision and style over twenty years ago. His mother, Hasmik Saryan, was in the Fashion industry from an early age, having created luxurious collections for women.

He could not help but absorb the European influence of his Mother and learn from her broad experience, designing, utilizing fine European fabrics, and craftsmanship.

Attending fashion shows throughout his childhood instilled within him an artistic sophistication, and the many hours spent in his Mother's factory taught him quality craftsmanship and the benefits of the most luxurious natural European materials.

Mindful of this, and using the knowledge he accumulated over the years, he followed in Mother's footsteps and began his work on his luxury men's collection.

Today, Saryan's Arthur is sold in the most exquisite Luxury Department & Boutique Stores Nationwide & Overseas.

Unwavering Determination &
Perseverance

Hasmik migrated to Los Angeles, CA with her two children in 1989, where she envisioned a better life for her family. Where dreams are made.

Hasmik arrived with two kids and literally one suitcase. She didn’t have two cents to rub together and didn’t speak a word of English. At the time, the apparel manufacturing business in the U.S. was booming. While Hasmik did not have any experience utilizing industrial sewing machines, she was introduced to a business owner who was opening an apparel production plant up the street from her single family apartment. She was courageous enough to ask the owner for work so she can provide for her two children. She offered to work for free until she learned how to utilize the machines and when the owner deemed her beneficial to the business, she would then be compensated. The plant owner was astonished of her offering and hired her on spot, and allowed her to work with a small salary. Within no time, she became an extremely essential employee.

Hasmik Alber Saryan - 1990's
Visionary

While working for other factories during the day, she purchased an industrial sewing machine for her single unit apartment. She placed it in the kitchen and would bring work home as well. She would work in the mornings prior to going to work and worked tirelessly in the evenings. Not having a car at the time, she would walk several miles in the mornings taking her six year old daughter, Virginia to school. Returning to work, then taking her four year old son, Arthur to kindergarten and returning to work again. After several years, she purchased a small car, (Pictured Here) purchased another industrial sewing machine, moved into a two bedroom apartment, converted one of the restrooms to a small workshop with two sewing machines and continued with the same process, working day and night.

While working for the factory that gave her the first opportunity, here in America, that business was struggling. During this time, Hasmik started working in other factories, while being mistreated, and deprived of her hard work, she decided to venture off on her own. She rented a small space in Los Angeles and purchased one industrial sewing machine at a time. Growing it to 10-12 machines. She hired several employees and started producing goods for other brands. At the time, which was around the late 90’s, apparel manufacturing in the U.S. started to fade out and into other countries, China, Mexico, etc. She began to work for one of the brands she manufactured for as a pattern and sample maker.

While she had the artistic appetite for designing and understanding the production process, she needed to learn the pattern and sample making. So she did. Self taught, on her own. For years, Hasmik was a pattern and sample maker. She then decided to venture off on her own again and open a small modest studio in the Fashion District of Los Angeles. She became a respectable pattern and sample maker for various brands. Once she mastered pattern, sample making and the understanding of sophisticated fabrics, she created her own beautiful ladies collection, called Gorgeous Collection.

Hasmik's specialty was on the ladies side, designing, creating beautiful collections with the finest European Fabrics. In the summer of 2014, Arthur had to convince mom to help create a men’s shirt collection, this took time, effort and persistence. “I say it was one of the hardest sells, took six months of convincing” for Hasmik to agree and help create a men’s shirt collection. Saryan’s Arthur was born. Arthur attributes his entire knowledge and the Company's success to his Mother, Hasmik Saryan.
